3rd Rock's Claims to teleport to the SL Grid and Back 

Hi guys,

I see on the 3rd Rock website, http://www.grid.3rdrockgrid.com/  they make the following claim:-

"Soon you will be able to teleport from the 3rd Rock Grid to Second Life™ and back again. "

Is this for real??

I don't think it is the wrong forum. Others have asked if it is possible to tp from the OpenLife grid to SL, and have been told 'no, it is not possible'. I think it is reasonable then to ask, that if another grid claims to be able to provide this, then why not OpenLife, unless the claims of 3rd Rock are dubious. That is worthy of discussion, IMHO.

I think it goes something like:

Script in prim in both worlds, click!

Closes and reopens viewer with pre defined location ready to go.

The rex viewer will do this. I think I read that over there.

No big deal. Until mobile avatars and wallets. Then it's a big deal.

Working towards a red dot. It's all I have for now. [and no, I couldn't just leave]

I think that 3rd Rock are simply repeating the claims of realXtend, however, looking at the realXtend facility for teleporting from one grid to another, they are simply automating the process of logging out of one grid and logging into another. To my mind, that is NOT teleporting, unless I misunderstand it.

Hi all,

Sorry this is late...

3RG(3rdrockgrid.com) can not directly teleport (yet) to or from any other grid.

When our grid was young, it was based on the RealXtend release, which with some "Inworld" script code and an "Automatic" viewer restart pointing to the other grid we were able to "Somewhat" mimick this ability.  We have since moved onward with our grid and no longer use the Realxtend server, therefore we can no longer do this.

Sorry for the confusion.
