Tips & Tricks – Utilities to improve your *Life.
First Utility: is a Mass File Re-namer / Parser:
This little free gem makes life so much easier. It allows you to rename a single file or all files in a folder. You can strip info from a file name or mod it / them to make it easier to group.
EXAMPLE: you have a texture that was backed up & exported to your hard disk. The original file name was BurlyOak.TGA
But it is now saved as BurlyOak[999-000-000-xxxxxx].TGA
Use the little utility above and grab all the textures in the folder, click the REMOVE tab and enter [*] then hit Perform Rename…. And POOF all the files will have the Brackets and everything in between removed. You can apply this to any file, simple to use and very handy!
Second Tool: View TGA files as Thumbnails in Windoz. Windows supports many different image formats for Thumbnails but not TGA files. Imagine that ! Well someone came up with another amazing little free Gem.
This is slightly older software but works with all flavours of Windoz. Quick and simple, install it and suggest a restart and now you’ll see what the TGA files are in a preview. No more having to open a TGA file in a Image Editor to see what it is.
Third Tool: Not really a tool, but a website. SL anim creator v0.2.1
Animated GIF89a to SL texture. Want to make an animated texture with a Gif ? Well.. here is a little thing that creates the code. Will it work everywhere ? That depends on LSL implementation in the domain that you are in.
