Getting Started
When you first arrive on the Openlife Grid you will be wearing a 'default' Avatar and clothing, whilst not all that attractive, we all need to wear something. You cannot edit your default appearance but must create, or wear new clothes before you can edit appearance. In addition you must create and wear new body parts to change your shape and  change gender to male, if you are not female.

Creating a new set of avatar and clothing is fairly simple, using the Kirsten Openlife Viewer or Realxtend Viewer.

The new default walk, much better than the duck walk, is also in the Mac version of the R16 viewer

I find that it helps me retain my appearance is I have the Advanced tab open (cnt+alt+D) and go to "character" and rebake textures (Cnt+alt+R). Then I can be pretty certain of looking the same when I log in again or when I cross regions.
Hope this helps

Not much use to a Mac user with a SL browser. OL avatars don't seem to respond to the SL browser's appearance editor So Mac users are going to have to look and walk like complete prats for the foreseeable future. At least LL made browsers for several platforms, whatever crimes they may have committed in other areas.
