Land in the Openlife Grid.
A common resource used in the GRID is referred to as land. Land is a 3D space that Avatars can interact with, walk around, fly above, build things in and interact with other Avatars on. There are 3 definitions worth noting:
Parcel:
A parcel is a division or sub-division of a region, based on a ground area of the region. Parcels can be as small as 4x4m or as large as 256mx256m. Currently the OpenlifeGrid.com does not offer parcels, however they do offer Regions & Private Clusters.
A parcel listing service of parcels available through Region Holders is soon to be launched online.
Region:
A region is a virtual 256mx256m space or 65,536m2 area. It is operated by a Simulator running on a Server in the Openlifegrid data centre.
Regions have their own names, terrain, capabilities and characteristics. They look like a 'large section of land'.
A resident can be a Region Holder (sometimes referred to as owner) by becoming a part of the Foundation Resident Event.
See Also: Foundation Residents region sales.
Private Cluster:
A Private cluster is the largest available section of land in the Openlife Grid. As the name suggests these are customizable with many additional features not available to regular Region Holders. A Private cluster consists of 4 Regions, and is not part of the mainland. The additional controls available to private cluster owners can make for a very different experience, including things such as custom gravity. The Private cluster owner can also choose settings such as the maximum terraform height and provide their own custom terrain maps.
A private cluster doesn't have to be 'private' while the option exists to choose who can enter and use the regions within it, it can also be public and open available to all Openlifegrid.com users. There are many more unique features planned for this level of ownership.
The Openlifegrid.com encourages a broad spectrum of users including education. In July 2008 new pricing is available including Private Cluster ownership (see below).

Controlling your Land:
When right clicking the land you can select About Land Tab.
This brings up a window of options you can change & set for your parcel.
